The Exodus Web3 Wallet is a non-custodial browser extension that connects you to decentralized applications (dApps), DeFi platforms, and NFT marketplaces securely and directly from your browser. Available for Chrome, Brave, and Firefox (desktop and Android), it combines Exodus’s intuitive design with powerful multi-chain Web3 functionality—all while keeping you in full control of your private keys and funds .
Exodus Web3 Wallet is the browser extension version of the trusted Exodus Wallet. Like Exodus Mobile and Exodus Desktop, it is a self-custody crypto wallet. Your private keys are encrypted and stored locally on your device. Exodus does not have access to your funds and cannot recover your wallet for you .
Your secure doorway to Web3: The extension is designed as your gateway to the decentralized internet. Web3 is the blockchain-powered evolution of the web, and Exodus Web3 Wallet gives you a single, secure entry point to explore everything it offers—from DeFi lending protocols to NFT galleries and blockchain games .
Key characteristics:
Connecting to dApps with Exodus Web3 Wallet is simple and secure. The extension acts as a bridge between you and thousands of Web3 applications, allowing you to interact with them while your private keys remain safely on your device .
If Exodus isn't listed: Select Browser Wallet, MetaMask (for Ethereum and EVM networks), or Phantom (for Solana connections). The extension will still connect successfully .
Exodus Web3 Wallet supports dApp connections on a wide range of networks:
| Network | Support Level |
|---|---|
| Ethereum | Full support |
| Solana | Full support |
| Algorand | Full support |
| Arbitrum One | Full support |
| Avalanche C-Chain | Full support |
| Base | Full support |
| BNB Smart Chain | Full support |
| Cardano | Full support |
| Fantom | Full support |
| Optimism | Full support |
| Polygon | Full support |
Aurora, Flare, and Rootstock have light support (balance display only; full transaction history available via block explorer) .
When you interact with a connected dApp, all transactions and requests must be approved and signed with your Exodus wallet .
To approve a transaction:
Auto Approve feature: You can enable automatic approvals for trusted dApps. When enabled, requests are automatically approved while your wallet is unlocked. Use this feature with caution—crypto transactions are irreversible .
Exodus gives you full control over your Web3 connections:
dApp is short for decentralized application. DApps are applications that you interact with using blockchain technology. They include games, DeFi platforms, NFT marketplaces, and more .
Web3 app is any application built on a blockchain. All dApps are web3 apps, but not all web3 apps are fully decentralized—however, the terms are often used interchangeably .
Exodus Web3 Wallet is your doorway to all of them .
Security is built into Exodus Web3 Wallet at every level, but safe practices are essential when interacting with third-party platforms.
Self-custody: Your private keys are encrypted locally on your device using AES-256 and never leave your browser. Exodus does not have servers that store your keys or funds .
12-word secret key: Your wallet is secured by a 12-word recovery phrase. This phrase is the only way to restore your funds. Exodus cannot reset it or recover it for you. Write it down on paper and store it securely offline .
Password protection: Set a strong local password to encrypt your wallet. Password strength is clearly indicated during setup—green is strongest .
No KYC required: You do not need to provide personal information to install or use the extension. Your identity remains private .
Bug bounty program: Exodus partners with HackerOne and follows secure software development lifecycle (SSDLC) standards. There has never been a successful attack on Exodus’s servers or source code .
1. Never enter your 12-word secret key into any website. Exodus will never ask you to enter your recovery phrase or private keys to connect to a dApp. If a website asks for your seed phrase, it is a scam attempting to steal your funds .
2. Only connect to dApps you trust. DApps and Web3 apps are third-party platforms not affiliated with Exodus. Exodus cannot vouch for their safety or security. Before connecting, do your own research to understand the platform, its features, and potential risks .
3. Beware of phishing and fake websites. Always double-check that you are using the official website of the dApp. Be cautious of fake websites and phishing attempts designed to look legitimate .
4. Disconnect after each session. It is a great security practice to remove dApp connections when you are finished using them. You can always reconnect later .
5. Create a dedicated Web3 wallet. Exodus recommends creating a new wallet specifically for dApp interactions rather than importing a wallet with significant funds. This isolates your long-term holdings from potential malicious dApps .
Some dApps—such as yield farming platforms (Tulip) or lending protocols (Aave)—require infinite approval (token allowance) to interact with your funds over time. This allows them to move your assets without requesting approval for each transaction, saving time and network fees .
Important: Infinite approval is currently only available on the Ethereum network for ERC20 transactions. Exodus does not yet support removing previously approved infinite approvals or adjusting approval amounts. Review all approval and transaction details carefully before clicking Approve .
The Exodus Web3 Wallet is more than just a connection tool—it is a complete crypto wallet.
Send and receive cryptocurrencies on any supported network directly from the extension. Each asset has its own receive address .
Swap assets across multiple networks without leaving the extension. Exodus Swap automatically scans multiple decentralized exchanges (DEXs) and third-party providers to find the best available price and fastest route .
Purchase cryptocurrency directly inside the extension using:
Sell crypto for fiat and withdraw funds to your bank account—all within the same interface .
Stake supported assets such as Solana and Cardano directly in the wallet to earn passive income. You can also connect your Exodus wallet to DeFi apps for additional yield opportunities .
Store, view, and manage your digital collectibles in the built-in multichain NFT gallery. The gallery supports NFTs on Ethereum, Solana, Algorand, Avalanche, Base, BNB Smart Chain, Cardano, Fantom, Polygon, and Tezos .
The Web3 Wallet syncs seamlessly with Exodus Mobile and Exodus Desktop. Your portfolio, assets, and transaction history are accessible across all your devices while maintaining full security .
Throughout your Web3 adventures, Exodus provides round-the-clock customer support via email and in-app chat .
Create New Wallet:
Restore Existing Wallet:
Important: Exodus will only restore addresses from Phantom or MetaMask that have previous transaction history. If there is no history, new addresses will be created .
Security recommendation: Create a new wallet specifically for Web3 and dApp interactions rather than importing a wallet with significant funds .
Immediately after creation, back up your 12-word secret key. Write it on paper and store it in a secure offline location. Never share your secret key with anyone—including Exodus Support .
| Browser | Support Status | Installation |
|---|---|---|
| Google Chrome | ✅ Full support | Chrome Web Store |
| Brave | ✅ Full support | Chrome Web Store |
| Firefox Desktop | ✅ Supported | Firefox Add-ons |
| Firefox Android | ✅ Supported | Firefox Add-ons for Android |
Exodus Web3 Wallet is a Chrome-based extension. It installs natively on Chrome and Brave. Firefox users can download the official extension from the Firefox Add-ons store .
Exodus Web3 Wallet handles the following data types:
The developer declares this data is:
All data is encrypted during transmission .
Permission transparency: The extension requests access to "your data for all websites." This is standard for Web3 wallets and only allows the extension to detect when you visit a dApp and prompt you to connect. It does not read your browsing history or personal data .
For users requiring maximum security, Exodus supports hardware wallet integration:
This integration allows you to maintain the convenience of the Exodus interface while keeping your private keys completely offline .
No 2FA: Traditional two-factor authentication is not available. This is structurally inherent to non-custodial wallets—there is no server-side account to attach 2FA to. Your password only decrypts your local wallet file .
Not fully open source: Some components of Exodus remain closed source. The company states this helps prevent phishing scams and malicious clones. Users who require fully auditable open-source code may prefer alternatives like MetaMask .
